Our story began in 1978, when Charlie McElveen, a man known for his warm handshake and relentless work ethic, took a leap of faith and opened a small dealership with a big dream. For Charlie, selling cars wasn't just business-it was personal. He built every relationship on honesty, integrity, and treating people like neighbors, not numbers. That foundation still drives everything we do.

As time went on, so did the McElveen legacy. Charlie's son, Doug, grew up in the showroom, learning the ropes from the ground up. Blending his father's timeless values with new energy and ideas, Doug took the wheel in 1989 and steered the dealership into a new era. Today, he proudly leads McElveen Buick GMC as owner and dealer, with his son Gray now stepping into leadership as New Car Manager. Three generations strong-proof that dedication to service truly runs in the family.

But Doug's vision goes beyond cars. With a deep passion for giving back, he launched Mac Gives Back, an initiative dedicated to supporting local nonprofits and causes that matter most to our community. Whether it's donating time, resources, or simply showing up when needed, we're here for the Lowcountry because it's been here for us.

Under Doug's leadership, McElveen Buick GMC has earned top honors like Time Dealer of the Year and two coveted national awards, 2018 Buick's Dealer of the Year, as well as GMC's 2023 Dealer of the Year -but for us, success is measured in satisfied customers and long-term relationships.
